Six Belgian senior officers met yesterday the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Charles Kayonga to discuss about military cooperation with Rwanda. Col Eeckeloo Roony, Head of the delegation said that the purpose of their visit to RDF is to see how to enhance partnership program started by the two parties since 2004. He said that the existing cooperation is mainly based on military training and medical for which the two armies are discussing the way forward.
Early in the morning of yesterday, the Belgian delegation accompanied by RDF personnel visited the Camp Kigali memorial site to pay tribute to ten military Belgians killed during the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. They also visited Kigali memorial centre, at Gisozi, to pay tribute to the victims of 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
After 3 days of visit the delegation is expected to leave the country today.
