At least four people were reported killed and others wounded in an intensifying battle between soldiers loyal to the Kenyan government and Al-shabab fighters in Jubba regions of southern Somalia, regions near the Kenyan border, military officials said on Sunday.
In a three-hour, night-time battle in the Qoqani and Tabta villages near Afmadow town, a key town in Lower Jubba region, where both Kenyan army and Al-shabab militants have been fighting since Kenya incursion into Somalia almost two months ago to flash the militants out of the its bordering regions.
Reports said that both warring sides (Kenyan army and Al-shabab) in Jubba regions southern Somalia, sustained heavy casualties in the battle
Security officials of Somali interim federal government in the conflict regions said on condition of anonymity, the combat erupted early hours of last night after Al-shabab fighters launched an ambush attacks on Kenyan military convoys from Qoqani township to Tabta village near Afmadow district in lower Jubba region of Somalia.
There are no yet any comments from the officials of both warring sides about the overnight battle in the border regions of Jubba in Somalia.
