The Nigerian Army has launched a locally made remote controlled static and moving Target Display machine, the first of its kind in Africa.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General O.A Ihejirika, who performed the commissioning at the Infantry Corps Centre (ICC) range, Jaji, Kaduna State, said the purpose of the machine was to display target for soldiers during small armed competition among the soldiers in the shooting range. He added that, “the plan of this laudable achievement was conceived by the members of the Nigerian Army since 1997.”
Ihejirika pointed out that the machine was produced by an experienced Nigerian Army engineer and commander of the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NAEMA), Major General Nnaemeka C. Maduegbunam, a recipient of national award in his area of specialization he described as a man with never-say -die attitude.
The Army chief commended the Infantry Corps for providing a place for Nigerian Army Engineers to work, assuring it that he would reward officers and men who initiate new innovations for the progress and development of the Nigerian Army.
