At least two people have been killed in an attack by armed men at Mandera town, north east Kenya, officials and residents say on Tuesday.
Witnesses told Shabelle Media that attack was targeted at a checkpoint on the outsirts of Mandera town that controlled by Kenyan troops, killing a soldier while the other was reported to be from the attackers.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan troops opened fire to different directions after the attack to defend the attackers from entering into their base, but one of the nearby civilians were killed or hurt.
Mandera town which locates in the boredr between Somalia and Kenya has witnessed a number of cross border attacks from the militants inside Somalia after Kenyan sent its troops into the country to pursue Al-shabab.
It was not immediately clear who is behind the attack.
